Lavatory Threshold updates- Dylan and Melanie

Lavatory Threshold updates- Dylan and Melanie

We decided that out of all the entrances the interior design floor has, the least attention is given to the bathrooms, an area with a lot of traffic flow.So we are designing a nicer entrance and exit to the lavatory. Our main issue right now is being able to select the mesh rather than the negative space the holes leave.

Parametric Threshold- Form Idea generation

We started with the form, with the idea of the skin being suspended from the ceiling and attached to the wall/door. I created the basic skeleton of curves in Rhino and took it to grasshopper to loft > mesh > weaverbird. But Ben’s idea of a free standing form, during the class discussion, was interesting and cool and we are working on it. 12gh

ParametricThreshold- Semester Project

Group- Myself and Ajitha.

I came up with this idea of a Parametric Threshold- A THRESHOLD THAT DEFINES THE MOMENT OF TRANSITION. Ajitha’s idea was of parametric skin light clusters. After the class discussion we zeroed down on the Threshold idea.

My inspiration for the pattern on the skin was from the traditional Indian ‘Jali’ system- Latticed screen, usually with an ornamental pattern constructed through the use of calligraphy and geometry. Extensively used in Indian and Mughal Architecture. Untitled-1jali
