I still keep the initial form in this progress and focus on bubbles in double layers, the external one in transparent one with the internal one in lighting. And I was also trying to figure out ShapeDiver materiality on lighting and opacity but have been stopped by unexpectedly failing to upload…

Privacy Screen Update
Initially I wanted to create a script that generated a certain type of minimal surface shape. Doing this proved to be difficult because everything I had been working on used low-poly minimal surfaces that you had to create yourself in Rhino. This did not allow for very much customization within Shapediver. Keeping with the same minimal surface idea, I transitioned to script that creates a networked vault using a set of lines. Now instead of figuring out how to customize the low-poly minimal surface I just had to create a script that customized the lines being used to create the networked vault. This allowed for more customization, however I’m still struggling with how to keep the inputs super rigid, because sometimes the sliders can create a minimal surface that is separated from itself or floating.
My next step it to mess with the actual surface pattern and see if I can create script that adds more customization to the shape and size of the pattern within the actual screen.
11/21/22 Wu – Privacy Screen Video
Here’s a cool video that I recorded of my Privacy Screen (in-progress)!
11.21 privacy screen process
First attempt failed in ShapeDiver, showing only the sun path.
After a couple of revisions, it works!
- Switching the Rhino display to a ShapeDiver plug-in display
- Flatten datas
- Use ‘Internalise data’ for rhino-defined surfaces
11.14 privacy screen process
Taking inspirations from Aedas clads al bahr towers in Abu Dhabi and wooden textiles created by Elisa Strozyk, I am looking into creating a dynamic shading screen system, which would correspond to the sun path.
11.07 privacy screen process
Testing on creating patterns using ShapeDiver plugins.
11.21.2022 Privacy Screen Update
Above are some images of the most recent Privacy Screen project. Just as I thought, it was Mesh+ that was causing a trouble for the last two weeks.
This required some amendments to the way I desired to proceed, in which I had to omit and replace Mesh+ components with Weaverbird, and Lunchbox.
11.14.2022 Privacy Screen Update
Above are images of 2nd iteration of privacy screen project. Despite how grasshopper definition was trimmed out and simplified than how it was before, there seemed to be an issue that hindered file from syncing with Shapediver plugin.
At this point, it would be best to assume that I should avoid using M+, but utilize Kangaroo, LunchBox, and WB plugins to construct the pattern.
