This is a variation of a project the class has done a few times before – free standing laser cut privacy screens made from chipboard. This time for kids! Also – no stacked blocks, egg crates, or voronoi based assembly systems this time around…

The first project of the Spring 2018 semester – 2D Interiors – can be found online here:

This is the first time we’re trying this project. Students are asked to identify a precedent 2D Interiors system – either a floors wall, or ceiling system – and to extend that system parametrically. The assignment is similar to the Seating assignement we used to do, in that students do not have to design the systems – they only have to make them dance.

This project will run the length of the term this semester, albeit with a soft start, and the focus will be on the development of a fully functional and 3D-printable family of [100 or more] products.
