Mobius

We started our project with forms. Because forms decide how the pattern flow and how interactive the object could be with people in a public space. After researching different forms and shapes, we are inspired by the continuity and the mystery twisted form of Mobius ring.

For the new site we are trying to turn this form into large scale installation for both interior and exterior. However we haven’t decided on the material and purpose yet. This week we are still testing forms and scale, but we might build a futuristic botanical garden for the new site, which means we will introduce plants and change the whole atmosphere of the space

Mobius

We started our project with forms. Because forms decide how the pattern flow and how interactive the object could be with people in a public space. After researching different forms and shapes, we are inspired by the continuity and the mystery twisted form of Mobius ring.

We want to test how it could be performed in the space in two different way: freestanding and hanging. If it is free standing it may allow people to cross the ring. If it is hanging, it may allow people to get inside. Every time people cross the ring or being inside of the ring they will feel the continuity of the Mobius ring.

Assignment 1-Final

Twisted Waist

Inspired by the Canton Tower and was obsessed with the twisted loft form. An organic form with controlled pattern is what I’m looking for. However the pattern is somehow too rigid at some point so I changed the form to achieve some of the looseness.

When we discuss the norm “Vessel”, it is important to think about what scale level it could be. For the final concept I want to compare the architecture scale and the furniture scale.

3. Pull up an Offset Curve for the three Polygons

4. Add Rotate for the bottom and top polygons
