Fall 2014 Syllabus

The class syllabus for the Fall 2014 term can be found here.  As the schedule and content is likely to change a bit over the course of the semester, I like to let this published google doc be the master syllabus for the term.  Any and all changes will be reflected in real time in this document – be sure to check back periodically for any updates.

Spring 2014 Parametric Seating Assignment

The first assignment of the Spring semester is available online here.  This assignment, which we’ve done a few times before in this class, asks students to model a precedent seating system in Rhino, and to extend that surface parametrically in Grasshopper.

The assignment, including parts 1 and 2 is also embedded below.  Enjoy:

Rhino Resources

Now that everyone is into the first part of the parametric seating assignment, I thought it would be worthwhile to re-post some good online resources for learning rhino.  I first published these back in February 2012, and think all are still relevant.

Parametric Seating Assignment – Fall 2013

The first assignment of the Fall semester is online here.  The assignment asks students to model a precedent seating system in Rhino, and to create an extended design space around the precedent system using Grasshopper.

We’ve done this a few times before in this class, and it has proven to be a good way into some of the concepts and techniques we’ll be developing over the course of the semester.

DesignReform video tutorials

Another fantastic resource for grasshopper video tutorials is DesignReform, which is run by the all stars over at Case.  The site is full of great practical knowledge, including a few videos that will be particularly useful for us; have a look at the Lunchbox video, and the two kangaroo videos.
