Two thoughts. The module has those returns (the little flanges running parallel to the egg crate), which you could glue to the inside of the egg crate cells. If the fit was tight and the glue job was tidy, this would result in a very strong system. The other thought is to simply glue the front face of the module (the little frame around the aperture) to the egg crate.
I think the tabs are more trouble than they are worth – you’ll get a much stronger joint with a good glue job and proper tolerances.
